Announcing: Warhammer Expansion - Special Characters!

After reading through the old "Champions of Chaos" booklet, I thought to myself "man, why aren't these in the new rulebooks?". Looking through the old 4th and 5th ed army books showed a whole bunch of special characters that have been put on the bench for years now, which is a damn shame. As such, I've decided to compile these old special characters into one booklet with updated rules for 8th edition, giving you folks who still have models for them the chance to use them in your games. Or at the very least read their fluff and look at pretty pictures ;)

Version 1.0 will likely only contain those characters no longer available in the new books - like prince Imrik, Zacharias the Everliving, and Crom the Conqueror - but I might also include the new special characters from the current books as well in a later version.

Feel free to throw in any characters you would like to see that I might otherwise miss (preferably with a source and artwork if you can find it), be they from White Dwarf, Storm of Chaos or any other GW publication. Because I have already updated Bretonnia and am working on Chaos Dwarfs, special characters from these books will not appear in this one.

  1. Looks like a pretty good list, I'm looking forward to it. The only one that stands out is Grombrindal, I'm pretty sure he has current rules from, appropriately enough, White Dwarf.

    1. Well, White Dwarf isn't exactly a current army book, which is why he will appear here ;)

  2. @ Anonymous - Special Characters are only a small project, should not take long. Regiments of Renown is practically complete, and Cathay/Pirates are both about 30% done, so there's hopefully going to be less waiting time than you currently expect ;)

Also, what's up with your comments still not showing? Really weird...

    1. Thanks for the links! Do you have the background for Belannaer in English? I only have the Spanish version of the 5th ed High Elf book unfortunately. Or if not, could you help me translate the French version into English, French grammar isn't exactly my strong suit ;)

    2. Same goes for Imrik, only have the 6th ed background in English.

    3. Don't think it's a good idea to retranslate to english. Don't have High Elves v5 English version

    4. I'll see if I can pick up the English version on the cheap then, that way it will at least be the original version.

Regarding the Knightly Orders, they got an update here: http://warhammerarmiesproject.blogspot.se/2012/09/updates-for-classic-ror-and-knightly.html

The magic banners are in, but since there was so little fluff for the High Helms and I couldn't find any artwork for them, I didn't include them.

  4. @ Anonymous - can't promise anything, as I have both exams and a large part of video game season 2012 left to finish, but some time during December should be very possible. I might push Cathay back a bit in order to work on Chaos Dwarfs as well. Already have most of the bestiary sorted, and the background shouldn't take too long to fix.

    1. Most people seem to liken me to Zach Braff, but hey, could be worse! Maybe I'll look more like Soderbergh when I'm older, but I'll likely have more hair ;)

    1. Oh come on now, you haven't had to wait for it that long ;)

Besides, since I'm working on it with another guy, it's not all up to me when it will be finished.

  7. I'm french, your work is awesome. I think you missed Nyklaus von Carstein aka Count Noctilus

    1. Count Noctilus never had any official rules, that's why he is not in the book. I might include him in the Zombie Pirates list though.
